Chelseas Diego Costa splits opinion as well as the Everton defence
Costa is criticised by Martínez for goading Seamus Coleman
Cesc Fábregas makes instant impact at Chelsea
José Mourinho portrayed Diego Costa as a persecuted innocent. Roberto Martínez settled for childish. Polarising opinion comes as naturally to the naturalised Spaniard as upsetting, unsettling and punishing defences, although there is no disputing the reason Chelsea have their menace back. In one chaotic, unforgettable encounter, he also demonstrated why Fernando Torres, Romelu Lukaku and Samuel Etoo have taken their leave from Stamford Bridge.
Costa, 25, started and finished the nine-goal spectacle that ended with the look of a rout but was an enthralling, end-to-end and error-strewn contest until the 90th minute. Only when the £32m striker profited from Muhamed Besics dreadful first touch as an Everton player, sold Sylvain Distin and Tim Howard a glorious dummy and scored Chelseas sixth did Mourinho relax.

Transfer rumours: Premier League gossip and news
Torres and Chelsea can say 'we'll always have Barcelona'
By Tony Jimenez LONDON (Reuters) - For Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in the classic 1942 film Casablanca it was a case of "we'll always have Paris" and for Fernando Torres and the Chelsea fans it will be "we'll always have Barcelona". In January 2011, amid much fanfare, Chelsea broke the British transfer record by splashing out 50 million pounds on Liverpool striker Torres who decided to end his days at Stamford Bridge on Sunday by sealing a two-year loan move to AC Milan. One of his first goal attempts on his debut for the Londoners, a 20-metre effort against Liverpool that sailed high, wide and not so handsome, was almost a symbol of the trials and tribulations Torres was to endure for the next 3-1/2 years.

Torres joins Milan on two-year loan deal
Spain striker Fernando Torres has completed his move from Chelsea to Serie A side AC Milan on a two-year loan deal, the Premier League club said on Sunday. "Chelsea Football Club thanks Fernando for his service during the past four seasons and wishes him the very best for his loan in Italy," Chelsea said in a statement on their website. Torres, 30, signed for Chelsea for a then British record 50 million-pound deal from Liverpool in 2011 following a hugely successful spell at Anfield in which he was regarded as being among the best forwards in the world. He never reproduced that form for Chelsea but did score a memorable goal in their Champions League semi-final win over Barcelona at the Nou Camp.
