Chelsea’s Diego Costa withdrawn from Spain squad with hamstring injury

Spain have called up the Málaga forward, Juanmi, ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifier against Ukraine after losing Diego Costa to the hamstring injury sustained during Chelsea’s victory at Hull City on Sunday.

Costa, who had been omitted for Spain’s last two games in the autumn when he was struggling to overcome niggling hamstring and groin complaints, was withdrawn 15 minutes from the end of Chelsea’s 3-2 success at the KC stadium. The Brazilian-born striker had scored his side’s second goal, with his replacement Loïc Rémy going on to register the winner, but appeared hampered as he limped from the pitch seeking treatment.
