Football Weekly Extra: Celtic, the Super Cup and the transfer window

The wait is finally over, and James Richardson is back safe and well from presenting the World's Strongest Man competition in China to take his rightful seat in near-Earth orbit, taking the reins of Football Weekly Extraaaa.

What's on the menu? Well, we salute Celtic's heroic performance knocking out their sheep-bothering opponents from Kazakhstan and securing their safe passage to the Champions League proper.

Next, we whizz around Europe, with Rafa Honigstein previewing Chelsea's game with Bayern Munich in the European Super Cup, Philippe Auclair telling us why there are no decent signings for Arsène Wenger to (not) make from Ligue 1, and Sid Lowe recalls the day Michael Owen accidentally expressed his love for Frank Lampard.

Finally, we look ahead to the weekend's fixtures, including Manchester United's trip to Anfield, the north London derby, and Crystal Palace v Sunderland – a game Barry Glendenning is lucky enough to be attending.

We're back on Tuesday next week so that we can take in the enormity of the closing of the transfer window. Who knows, maybe Gareth Bale will finally have gone to Real Madrid by then.
